Saul Cobian
Born in Mexico (1980), Saul Cobian is a graduate of LA Music Academy (class of
’07). He specializes in jazz drumming, but his experience on the drums goes from
blues and rock, to funk and Brazilian.
Since he went back to Mexico and settled in Guadalajara, Mexico, he has become one
of the top jazz drummers in town, sitting in for Jazz artists such as Donny McCaslin,
Jay Rodriguez, Joey Calderazzo, Alex Machacek, and Francisco Lelo, amongst
others.
He dedicates most of his time to teaching, and leads his own jazz group with local
Guadalajara jazz musicians: the Saul Cobian Quartet.
Saul is about to release his first record as a band leader, composer and producer:
“Cuentos y Cartas”, with the participations of Canadian guitar player and engineer,
Ken Basman, Cuban piano player Gabriel Hernandez, Mexican-American guitar
player Tom Kessler and and Mexican bass player Vico Diaz
