Biography
She was born on June 24 in Cali, began her musical studies with the piano and the flute at the Popular Culture Institute (IPC) at six years old. When she was 8 years old, she starts personalized lessons with the timbalero and musical producer Julián Gil, directs the Cali Charanga orchestra. Two years later she began to play as a timbalera of the orchestra of his Ciudadela Educativa La Presentación school, under the musical direction of Jorge Ladino, trumpet player of the Guayacán Orchestra at that time; Simultaneously she studied music workshops at the Luis Carlos Ochoa’s academy, where she was the timbalera of the La Charanguita.
Continuing with her basic studies, at the end of high school, enters the Pre Basic Music at the Universidad del Valle to strengthen knowledge about rhythmic work, auditory training and musical grammar. At the end of the Pre Basic Music, she traveled to Guatemala in 2006 with Dulzura salsa band. Two years later she began as Orquesta Canela’s timbalera under the direction of the musical producer, arranger, bass player and timbalero Jorge Herrera; Soon takes place in the timbal of Maria Mulata Orchestra and the direction of percussionist Álvaro Burbano, with whom participated in World Festival of Salsa 2010; Continued with Fuxia Orquesta and the direction of Burbano. In 2012 she participates in the World Festival of Salsa with Tremenda Banda, continuing his career with Yerbabuena Orchestra in 2013. From the year 2014 begins to participate in the Salsódromo of the Fair of Cali with the Percubanda until the present time; later that year she began to develop and improve percussive techniques and methods thanks to the unconditional support of his mentor Luder ‘Junior’ Quiñones, who has been part of large musical groups such as Grupo Niche, La Octava Dimensión, Los Hermanos Lebrón, Son de Cali, Willy Garcia and many more. In that same year, she took up the Orquesta Canela's timbale until now, an orchestra with which she participated in major events such as the International Salsa Festival in Puerto Rico, Veracruz Afro-Caribbean Festival, 3rd. Tribute to Salsa of México, Cali Fair, Festival Salsa al Parque, among others. In addition, she has accompanied puerto rican sonera Yolandita Rivera and her musical classics like Borinquen, Ahora sí, Hasta que se rompa el cuero.
In December 2018, she began her career as a free-lance drummer making accompaniments to different national and international artists, such as Papo Sánchez, former vocalist of the Roberto Roena orchestra and his Apollo Sound; Héctor ´Pichie´ Pérez, former vocalist of La Terrífica and La Sonora Ponceña; Osvaldo Román, former vocalist of La Puerto Rican Power and Grupo Niche; Carlos Romero, former vocalist of La Superma Corte, Virgilio Hurtado, former vocalist of Los Hermanos Lebrón, Álvaro Granobles, former vocalist of Grupo Niche; Kike Harvey, former vocalist of La Identidad and the orchestra Alma del barrio; Carlos Brito, former vocalist of Guayacán Orquesta; Alejandro Marulanda, singer of the Super Orquesta Café; Héctor Candelo, former vocalist of the Bronco of Venezuela; Beto Kalé, former vocalist of Grupo Niche; and Tito Murillo, former vocalist of Guayacán Orquesta, among others.
Evenly, at the 61st Cali Fair, she had the opportunity to be part of the Woman All Stars of the Master, producer, arranger and trumpeter Jose Aguirre convened, for the 2018 Salsódromo parade.
In August 2019, she was invited to record the timbale of the new album of the Puerto Rican orchestra Son Divas, “Una loca como yo”, under the direction of the Puerto Rican trombonist Aníbal De Gracia, who also had the participation of Victor Manuelle and Gilberto Santarosa in this production.
She is currently timbalera of Son de Azúcar, D´Caché and Yamboré Orquesta.
She has toured in countries such as the United States, Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru and Mexico where she has had the opportunity to alternate with artists like Jose Alberto 'El Canario', Pedro Brull, Isidro Infante, Luisito Carrión, Rey Ruiz, Luis Enrique, Bobby Valentín , Domingo Quiñones, Luis Felipe González, Alberto Barros, La Sonora Ponceña, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and others.
