Coleman Colvin
Coleman Colvin of Bossier City, Louisiana, first started playing drums in 2004, when he was in the fifth grade. He started out playing on his legs with his hands and his parents got him his first kit for Christmas later that year. When Coleman started high school in 2007, he started getting involved with his church’s youth band, despite his fear of attention. After his first few times playing in front of a crowd of teenagers, he had really stepped up his game, and his constant practicing and perseverance had been noticed. He was quickly asked to play in the church’s main services, and not too long after, Coleman was doing virtually all the drumming at the “mega-church” his family attended. He really found his element in worship music, and throughout his high school career, he rarely played gigs outside of the various churches he played for weekly. Though playing 2-5 church services and countless rehearsals became quite overwhelming at times, it definitely gave Coleman the experience in front of people and the confidence that many musicians have never had the opportunity to gain. His dream was to move to Nashville and play drums for a living, and he was mentored by Geof Barkley (ex-keys player for Third Day) on the pros and cons of living in Nashville as a musician. As Coleman’s high school career came to a close, he got involved with Riverpark Church and 318LIVE, both local ministries in Shreveport, Louisiana that were well-known for their worship bands. Through these ministries, he met a now close friend, Darren Elliott (also a Soultone artist). In 2013, Coleman finally made his move to Nashville, Tennessee, where he has since gotten involved with a few different worship artists. He now plays for one of Latin America’s most well known worship artists, Lucia Parker. She has done collaborations with and been featured with many well known worship artists such as Darlene Zschech, Israel Houghton, Michael Tate of Newsboys, BJ Putnam, Redimi2, and many more. Coleman also recently started playing with American worship leader, Brian Campbell, who travels worldwide leading worship year-round at festivals and various churches. Coleman currently endorses Chicago Custom Percussion, 1964 Ears, and Soultone Cymbals. The specifics of his custom kit are a 22x13 kick, 12x7 rack tom, 14x14 floor tom (not pictured), and a 16x15 floor tom. The finish is champagne sparkle with beavertail lugs and Dunnett spurs. He plays the Vintage Series from Soultone: 16in hats, 21in crash, 22in ride, and also plays another 21in Extreme crash.
