Willie Mccullen

I started playing the drums when I was about 5 years old. Supposedly, my mother would sit me down in front of my uncle who owned a 4 piece Ludwig trap set, and I would play along. That is as far back as I can remember. I started playing for my church, The Mighty Wind Worship Center, for the youth Sundays. I played continuously in church every Sunday and Wednesday all the way up until I was 18. I was involved in projects with various bands until I met The Aftershow. With The Aftershow, I opened up for acts like The Artic Monkeys, George Lynch, and Alien Ant Farm. We played many festivals including South By South West and Free Fress Summerfest, we also performed with many acts at the House Of Blues and Scout Bar in Houston, Texas. I studied with many artist including Chuck Payne, Mark Joseph, Mark Simmons and Alan green. I later left The Aftershow and joined the New Orleans band, Hazy Ray. With Hazy Ray, we opened up for acts like Ludacris, Tinsley Ellis, Oregon, Tab Benoit, Everclear. I also enjoy sitting in with the Mark Dini group at Sambuca in Houston with Mark Simmons (Al Jarreau’s drummer) and touring all over the country. Hazy Ray is currently on our second national tour which is about 8 weeks long, we have performances in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Louisiana.
