Travis Wentzell

Travis Wentzell

Playing covers from All Time Low to Silverstein to Bruno Mars to Emerson Drive, Travis' musical interests are all over the map. He prides himself in wanting to play anything and everything with anyone, and of course wants to do that in front of thouands of people.
Travis began drumming at the age of 12, in Bridgewater NS where he still resides, and fell in love right away. He played in his Junior High Orchestral Band, as well as the Jazz band, for 3 years. In high school, Travis formed a band with his younger brother, Devyn Wentzell (lead guitarist) and long-time friend, Cody Whynot (Bass Guitarist, singer). They called themselves Metric Disaster. The band only played 3 shows throughout their time together as school and other activities took up a lot of their time.
Travis started his YouTube Channel, MrDrummer91, in grade 11 at the age of 16 and has been posting videos ever since. One of his first drum covers, “Shut Up” by Simple Plan, is still his most viewed video to this day. Some of Travis’s more recent covers include songs by Tyler Ward, Bruno Mars, and Alex Goot.
Travis started attending Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, in the fall of 2012. Being one of the few drummers on campus, he joined a couple of bands right away. In 2013, “Florence Against the Machine” is the main band Travis currently plays with; the band already had shows planned for the first months of the year. Mostly a cover band, performing songs by the likes of Weezer, The Black Keys, the Artic Monkeys, and Reel Big Fish, “Florence Against the Machine” is very versatile in their choice of music to cover. In addition to playing the drums, Travis writes songs, plays the guitar, and is very proud of his wide taste in music.
Travis’s drum equipment includes a beginner Westbury Drum Kit that he has owned since the beginning of his drumming career. He uses DW pedals, Westbury/Pearl/Tama/Gibraltar hardware, and recently switched to ProMark 5A drumsticks. All though Bass and toms are Westbury, he has saved up to purchase 2 beautiful Sonor Snare drums; a 10" Piccolo w/ Jingles and a 14" Accent Series in Sparkling Blue. The cymbal setup he currently uses is 14” Extreme Hats, 8” Extreme Splash, 16” Custom Brilliant Crash, 21” Custom Brilliant Ride, 18” Extreme Crash, a 17" FXO12 Crash, a 14” FXO-6 Crash, and as a stack 14" Custom Brilliant Crash (top) and 17' Extreme Crash (bottom, cracked).
