Tim Gittens
Tim has lent his drumming talents to performers of nearly every genre from
blues to rock, jazz to R&B, funk to country, having worked with artists like
Shakura S'Aida, Toney "Wild T" Springer, Divine Brown, Melanie
Durrant, Karen Durrant's Tina Turner Tribute, FMJ: Foreigner Meets
Journey, The Night Porters, The Jerome Tucker Band, Frank
Cosentino, The Cates/Fomin Project, Leroy Emmanuel, Billy J. White,
Affinity, Bernadette Connors, and more. He has done studio session
work and soft-seat theatres including Massey Hall with Classic Albums
Live, cruise ships and chicken wing shacks, blues bars, rock bars, country
bars, night clubs, festival stages, theme parks, radio and television.
Tim has also been an educator for over thirty years, teaching clinics and
workshops in various music stores and high schools as well as having
taught well over seven hundred private students so far. In addition to
teaching more that 60 students a week at Long & McQuade's Music
Education Centre in Markham ON, Tim is also a part time faculty member
at MetalWorks Institute of Performance and Technology.
As a student, Tim was on the dean's list for all six semesters at Humber
College in the Jazz Studies program. His private teachers included Gord
Neave, Paul DeLong, Don Vickery, and Memo Acevedo. He was also a
peer tutor in ear training and theory.
Tim endorses Soultone Cymbals, Mapex Drums, Los Cabos
Drumsticks (for whom he was a contributing writer for their online
magazine), and Evans Drumheads.
