Rogel Rodriguez
Born and raised in Placetas, Cuba. Since childhood he was influenced by music, directly from his father, founder musician of the Modern Music Orchestra of Santa Clara, and participant in numerous jazz festivals in Havana, Cuba. He was also influenced by his brother, trumpet player of recognized groups in Cuba like Raices Nuevas. Being part of a family of musicians, he was inevitably witnessing rehearsals and musical activities that later influenced his musical career.
At 15 years old he immigrated to the United States and continued his footsteps in the music leaning towards percussion. He had the honor of studying with renowned percussionist and professor of the National School of Art in Cuba, Fernando Pina, which had much to do with his musical growth. He also learned from his friend and famous percussionist Yoel Del Sol, the style and rhythms of Cuban legend "Changuito". Later in his career he had the honor and luck to be under the tutelage of master percussionist Edwin Bonilla, who gave him a broader view of the different styles and traditional rhythms of Latin America.
Rogel has been on the music scene of Miami in the last fourteen years. He has participated in numerous television shows and concerts, accompanying international artists like Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle, Olga Tañon, Paulina Rubio, Pilar Montenegro, Giselle, Roberto Torres " Caballo Viejo ", Luis Fonsi, Ednita Nazario, Hansel y Raul, Albita Rodriguez, among others. He has also participated playing congas, timbales and bongos with numerous local bands in Miami. Rogel is now part of the band of the prestigious artist, Grammy -winner Albita Rodriguez.
