Robert Russell Jr.
no
Lately, Robert has been helping lead worship with front man Bart Millard of MercyMe and Travis Ryan at LifePoint church in Smyrna, Tn. He also has been playing for Rock/Pop artist Brian Van Meter and touring country artist Dru Blake.
Behind the kit, passion is one thing Robert does not lack. When on stage, he’s full of energy and his grooves are sick. Robert Russell is vastly building a name for himself as an all around solid drummer. From playing at church on Wednesday’s and Sunday’s, to studio sessions and road gigs, this is no doubt his true passion in life.
Robert is no novice when it comes to playing in front of thousands. His high school band Average Joe, would play in gyms packed with five hundred people to even a sold out headlining show in Civic Centers! They were also blessed to open up for big named act such as Third Day, Out of Eden, Grits, Sonic Flood, By The Tree and their favorite DC Talk!
Robert has been influenced by many great drummers like, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Carter Beauford, Adrian Young, Chad Sexton, Abe Laboriel Jr., Vinnie Colaiuta and many more.
Robert currently lives in Nashville where he has played with some amazing musicians like, Will Champlin (whose dad is Bill Champlin of Chicago), Anthony Rankin, Daniel Doss Band, Brian Van Meter; who has received airplay on TV show networks like MTV,ABC,NBC, etc. Rachel Adora (Country), James Smith (Gospel, Soul & Rock), Sharif Iman (Neo-Soul), Michael Inge (Neo-Soul), Average Joe (Worship, Christian Alternative); Buckler (Rock), The Lawles Family, Jennifer Love (Soul/R&B), the amazing rock songstress Eleisha Eagle and He was also asked to MD for Cheyenne Kimball for a Six Flags tour.
Rob currently uses Pearl Drums, Ancient Tree Drum (Snare), Evans Drumheads, Innovative Percussion drum sticks, DW Pedal, Westone In-Ears Monitors and is endorsed by Soultone Cymbals!
