Robert Acevedo is a Percussionist/ Music Producer/ Educator from Ponce Puerto Rico , who is currently studying his Major in Pastoral Ministry at Lee University , Cleveland Tennessee . At age five , Robert started to play drums at his local church in Puerto Rico . He also started to learn to play other Latin instruments such as congas , timbales , bats , bongos at a very young age . In his senior year of high school Robert took his first drum set lessons from Professor Jose Ortiz at the Escuela Libre de Musica in Ponce , Puerto Rico . He then started his college level education , precisely with professor Ortiz at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ponce (PUCPR ) . While in Puerto Rico , Robert was the percussionist for the PUCPR Choir under the direction of Maestro Ruben Colon Tarats and performed in various tours of Puerto Rico . Now at Lee , Robert works with various groups and churches in the Cleveland , Tennessee area .

Robert is the former drummer for the Lee University Big Band directed by Mr. Alan Wyatt and the Lee University Symphonic Band directed by Dr. Mark Baily . He is also a former member of the Lee University Percussion Ensemble who was directed by Dr. Andy Harnsberger

Currently Robert is the active drummer for the Lee University small jazz ensamble led by Dr.Nathan Warner

Robert Acevedo has shared the stage with Artist like Dr.John Wotton , Richard Henson , Edward Frytag , Christian McBride , Freddie Santiago , Clark Beckham , Alan Wyatt , Jim Walker , Jesse Pitts , Bruno Miranda and Giovanni A . Perez

Robert is currently working on his Latin Jazz album with two time Latin Grammy nominee. Jose Valentino Ruiz who is an Educator , Performer , Arranger , Composer and Producer

More recently Dr. José Ruiz and Robert Acevedo collaborated with Grammy winning artist Ben Gundersheimer (Mister G) on an award-winning album, “Mundo Verde/Green World.” Ruiz and Acevedo also recently released a Latin jazz album project, “Ahora Más Que Nunca.”

In spring 2017, Mister G asked Ruiz, assistant professor of music business at Lee, to contribute to “Mundo Verde/Green World,” his eco-friendly, bilingual children’s music album. The album was recently awarded the Parents’ Choice Gold Award, an award for children’s music and toys regarded to be equivalent to an Academy Award.

Ruiz and Acevedo also worked and recorded “Ahora Más Que Nunca,” a Latin jazz album project the duo began in the spring.

The album encourages people to pursue their calling and express their creative identity.
On recent events Acevedo and Ruiz finished recording their new album titled " A New Standard" dedicated in reviving old jazz standards such as "impressions", "night in Tunisia" and "Stella by starlight"
Ruiz and Acevedo, alongside with Shawn Perkison guitar phenom, Japhet Var lack bassist and Tim Ferguson saxophonist recorded the album and will son be released.The album has already won the attention of many jazz educators, performers and clinicians nation wide.

Robert works for Dr.Jose Valentino Ruiz and both musicians tour and perform on a weekly bases

Robert also works in music production and as an recording musician for several groups in and outside of Lee University.

Robert has also recorded twice for the Lee University Symphonic band albums called " Adore" a christmas album of worship and "Concert a Joy" both albums are dedicated to the spiritual renewal of worship inside and outside the church.
