Richard "Sleepy" Floyd
A native of Kokomo, Indiana, Richard "Sleepy" Floyd is a drummer, composer, and producer known for his versatility and high level of musicianship. Currently residing in Indianapolis, his playing style spans several genres including jazz, rock, hip-hop, and gospel. In a playing career spanning more than 24 years, Sleepy has performed, recorded and shared the stage with various artists across several genres including 112, DJ Logic, Nicolay, Phonte of Little Brother, Black Milk, Mayer Hawthorne, Rob Dixon www.owlstudios.com , Mystikos Quintet www.mystikos.com and Fareed Haque, to name a few. But ultimately a love for hip-hop, jazz, and beat production led to co-founding The Native Sun www.thenativesun.org , a live hip-hop collective who strives to keep the fundemental elements in hip hop alive. His biggest musical influences include his early mentors, Lewis Hall and Ondrik Gaillard, The Late Great Tony "2Stick" Dixon, J.Dilla, Kenny Phelps, Chris "Daddy" Dave, and Greg Artry. A first call drummer in the Midwest, Sleepy can be seen playing for a wide range of artists.
