Mike Welch

Whether playing on tinker toy cans and pots and pans and later a toy drum set given as a Christmas
present, Mike showed at very young age rhythmic and percussion abilities.
Mike cut his teeth and honed his skills playing drums with either his stepfather’s band rehearsals or his
uncles many get together jam sessions.
Mike started playing locally in bands at the age of 19, which eventually led to the job with J Scott McCoy
a regionally signed artist with Edel America Records. This gig led to touring the country in support of his
nationally released single “Cowgirl Crazy”. While touring with McCoy led to doing concert dates with
artists such as Mark Chesnutt, John Anderson, Ricochet, Terri Clark, John Anderson and many other hit
making acts.
Mike has lived and played in Nashville establishing himself rather quickly backing new up and coming
artists, past hit makers and some session work. In 2018 Mike moved back home to be closer to family,
still first call drummer Mike plays many shows per month and still some road dates.
