Michael Taylor "the groove reaper"
Indianapolis Indiana-born drummer Michael Taylor began playing drums at the age of 3. Although not a “classically studied” musician he was fortunate enough to have grown up in a musical family of drummers, and was exposed to a wide array of musical styles. “I learned how to play and develop my sense of musicality mostly by listening, watching, and emulating my favorite drummers, as well as a few lessons“. Some of those most influential include his father (Russell Taylor) and grandfather (Jack Ireland).
During his college career Michael played in various big bands and small jazz combos, as well as freelancing and recording with several musicians and bands in whatever local he happened to reside at the time.
In April of 2003 he decided to take the challenge and conquer the Los Angeles music scene. Since his tenure in LA he has worked with various artists, and has recorded with top producers such as Neil Citron (neilcitron.com) and David Campbell (davidmusic.com). Also, has since become a regular session drummer at Invengo Records (Invengorecords.com), 7th Level Productions (7thlevelproductions.com), Skip Saylor Recording Company, Inc. (skipsaylor.com), etc. Blah blah freekin blah!! For those who took the time to get this far, thanks for reading this bio.
