Matt Palmers percussion path began around age 10 when he found himself engorged in the thunderous drum sounds
produced by his favorite metal artist Metallica, and is now most known for his speed and technicality as a metal
drummer in Under The Horizon. Creating a mix of groove, fast double bass, and technical chops, every time the sticks
land in his hands.
However, Matts ability’s reach farther then just his prized metal style which has been developed because of his
expansive range in genres.
Matt joined the school band in middle school and eventually found himself as Percussion Section Leaded and Instructor
Aid in the last 3 years of high school, gaining him training, ability, and excellence in Orchestral, Marching, and Jazz Band,
as well as Arrangement and even Conducting. All which has helped lead his school to receive several band awards.
In addition to the standard school band achievements, Matt also helped create and pioneer an in-school student lead
rock cover band, Room 301, which eventually broke the boundaries of the normal school band format, and became part
of school music functions and concerts. Because of this, parents, students, and faculty can enjoy concert, marching, and
jazz band arrangements, and a cover of Metallica, Master Of Puppets all in the same event. This band is now passed
down through the years giving future students the chance to rock out while at school.
In the big picture Matts musical career has just begun, and it is very clear he will accept nothing less than success.
