Lewis "BIGLEW" Powell love of music started at an early age. He started listening to all different types of music he heard his mother playing on the radio. He was introduced to the piano by his father but did not take interest in it. it wasn't until his freshman year in high school where he began playing the drums. He was in marching band all four years of high school and all city band for three years. His senior year he came in second place in the City Of Chicago All City High School Drum Competition. At the age of Twenty he started playing drums on the Chicago blues scene. This is where he became known for his "pocket" playing style. He has traveled all over the United States and parts of Europe playing Blues,and R&B with some of the Blues Legends. He has played and been on shows with people like Little Milton Campbell,Artie "Blues Boy"White,Tyrone Davis,Bobby "Blue"Bland,Robert Cray,Johnny Winter and many more. He is now working on a new CD project to be coming soon. He hopes to inspire a whole new generation of pocket playing drummers and keep that style of playing alive.
