Karelius Ihlang – more widely recognized by his stage name, Eldrasil – is an emerging force in the extreme metal scene hailing from Norway. With a passion for drumming ignited at the tender age of six, Karelius has honed his craft relentlessly, quickly establishing himself as a drummer capable of delivering both technical proficiency and emotional depth.

Today, he is a prominent member of the Norwegian black metal band Eldamar, with whom he has graced stages at renowned festivals across Germany and other European countries. In 2025, Karelius took another monumental step in his musical journey by joining Paracrona as their drummer, solidifying his reputation in the metal community.

In 2023, Karelius channeled his artistic vision into a new solo project titled Belfalas, born from the thriving atmospheric and ambient black metal/death metal scenes. Drawing inspiration from the haunting soundscapes of Eldamar, the technical finesse of Children of Bodom, and the sweeping orchestral scores of Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings soundtrack, Belfalas weaves a sonic tapestry that is both introspective and epic in scope.

Since its inception in 2024, Belfalas has made significant strides in its musical journey, commencing with the demo album "Cries of the Coming Wind." This was followed by a series of captivating singles, including "Dor-en-ernil," the "Dor-en-ernil EP," "Agonai," and "Ex Gratia." Through these releases, Karelius has showcased a mastery of instrumental composition, crafting songs that resonate with haunting beauty and complexity.

Karelius was born on September 29, 1999, in Fredrikstad, Norway, and his early dreams of traveling the world playing music have steadily come to fruition. He first made waves as a member of the notorious black metal band Jotnir before joining forces with Eldamar and Askheimr in 2019. Now with concerts and festival appearances on the horizon, Eldrasil is quickly making a name for himself in the metal community, drawing in new fans with every performance.
