Jon Ihle

Jon Ihle, a New York based drummer raised in Staten Island, NY, fell in love with music at an early age. Like most kids, he would listen to the radio and records his brothers brought home, ranging from the Oldies and Motown, to Rock and Soul. Jon was influenced by them all. When Jon sat behind his first drum kit at the age of nine, he knew he had found his true calling and never looked back.

Jon turned pro at 17 while working with Ernest Wright (Little Anthony and the Imperials) who introduced him to J.T. Carter founding member of The Crests (16 Candles) who asked him to join his group, J.T. Carter & Company, which gave him his first real taste of life on the road.

Jon always loved bands like Jethro Tull, YES and Genesis and found his niche in progressive rock and later jazz fusion. He has continued to tour and record with numerous artists including members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame such as Chuck Berry, The Drifters, Bo Diddley. The Crests, The Righteous Brothers, The Crystals, and The Marvelettes. Jon has also recorded with Michael Brown of The Left Banke. In addition, he has played with Paul Griffin, recorded and toured with Ian Lloyd of Stories for many years, played with Ray Bennett of British rockers Flash, and Moogy Klingman (Bette Midler, Utopia). Jon has recently been performing at Rock Conventions and Expos such as RockCon and the BeatExpo2010 with the his colleagues including John Ford of the Strawbs, Denny Laine from Wings/Moody Blues, Ian Lloyd of Stories and more.

Versatile as he is talented, Jon also plays bass and guitar and when he is not gigging, he is composing, recording and producing songs. Jon will be touring Summer 2011 with a project he is currently coordinating bringing together some of the chart toppers of the early 70's Rock/Pop Era.

He is glad to be part of the Soultone family. He enjoys using his cymbals as they fit the many genres he plays.
