Jakub Dominik

Jakub was born and raised in Havirov, Czech Republic. He started studying piano at his early age, but finally found drumset at the age of 15. His father played and recorded music for the famous czech singer Marie Rottrova. At an early age Jakub was influenced by soul artists as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and also by jazzrock musicians as Billy Cobham, Chick Corea and Miles Davis. After high school he decided to study music at Janacek Conservatory in Ostrava. During studies he began to play with a local known pop rock band called Krystof, which became very popular in Czech Republic within next years. Now Krystof is one of the most prominent Czech pop groups. They were awarded nine czech music grammy awards including song of the year, album of the year and the best pop band of the year. Their music is not only influenced by modern pop music, but also by other styles such as ska, reggae, latin, balkan, etc. Krystof have released seven studio albums including two live CD`s and a DVD. Jakub is now inluenced mostly by modern fusion and soul artists such as Incognito, Mezzoforte, Spyro Gyra and also by musicians such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl and Steve Smith.
