Gerardo Griego
Gerardo José Griego Morales is a Venezuelan percussionist and drummer born in Maracaibo on May 4th, 1986. He
began his musical journey at the age of 8, performing in traditional gaita school festivals, where he developed a
deep passion for music.
He was first introduced to the Venezuelan cuatro by his godfather, Jesús Olivares, a member of the renowned gaita
group Estrellas del Lago de Santa Lucía. Shortly after, his mother, Siria Morales, taught him how to play the
tambora de gaita, marking the beginning of his path as a percussionist.
Largely self-taught, Gerardo expanded his skills across multiple percussion instruments, including timbales and
drum set. His professional career began in 2004 when he joined the group Alborada Marabina, gaining valuable live
performance experience.
He later pursued formal music education at CeMusica Academy, studying rhythm and music reading under
respected musicians Malvin Puchi and Alejandro Araujo, completing his training in 2010.
Now based in Miami since 2024, Gerardo has collaborated with a wide range of internationally recognized artists,
contributing his versatility, groove, and strong musical identity to every project. His experience spans live
performances, recordings, and touring, positioning him as a reliable and dynamic percussionist in today’s music
scene.
Throughout his career, he has worked with artists such as Mario Cáceres, Beet Acosta, Nelson Arrieta, Diveana,
Oscarcito Serrano, El Jeffrey, Ex Adolescentes, El Forest, Benavides, Renzo Padilla, Félix Manuel, El Forever,
Roberto Lugo, Caña Brava, Sundin Galué, Enio y José Ignacio, Cumbiamberos and many others.
With a solid foundation in Latin music and a modern, adaptable approach, Gerardo continues to grow as an artist,
bringing energy, professionalism, and authenticity to every stage and production.
