Eric Johnson
Eric Johnson, a native of Chicago, is incredibly talented in all genres of
music. His ability to manipulate beats, from African and Latin
polyrhythms to rock and R&B, jazz, gospel, and hip-hop, is remarkable.
Whatever the reason for Eric's musical diversity—whether it's from his
years of experience as a DJ and record collector, his production skills, or
his Creole ancestry—it has made him a highly sought-after collaborator
on a wide range of projects across several genres for an extremely
impressive roster of artists, including Kanye West, Angie Stone, Dru
Hill, Chingy, Pras (The Fugees), Jackie Dustin, The Pentecostals of
Chicago Choir, The Turks & Caicos Mass Choir, Twinkie Clark, Sakura
Nozaki, Martha Reeves, Shannon Harris, Glenn Underground, and The
Arkansas Mass Choir. It’s a simple as this: Eric rages on the drums, and
he breathes a fiercely dynamic fire into the rhythms of Tycoon Dog
( www.tycoondog.com), Christina Gaudet ( www.gaudetband.com),
Reverend Billy and the Church of Life After Shopping Gospel Choir,
who also opens for Neil Young Tour in 2024 ( www.revbilly.com), and
Turbine ( www.turbinemusic.com).
Since 2010, Eric relocated back to his hometown of Chicago and now
plays with Midnight Sun Band, ( http://midnightsunchicago.com/ ) and
Surge band. Eric has also recorded an open mic/poetry tv show with
American Idol artist Angela Martin
( http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/02/american-idol-angela-
martin-recording-a-song-via-ellen-degeneres-kara-dioguardi.html ), and
has performed with Motown artist Martha Reeves. Eric also played with
“The Voice” finalist, Teresa Griffith, as well as playing with Chicago
blues legends Cicero Blake, Willie Buck, Willie Clayton, and Syl
Johnson. Furthermore, Eric has served as the music director for Project
Brotherhood's Music Appreciation program. In 2010, he collaborated on
an album in New York City with Christina Gaudet, who was chosen to
appear on Bravo's hit television program, "Hitmakers."

continues to perform live with The Emotions, Isaiah Sharkey, Tycoon
Dog, and Reverend Billy and the Church of Life After Shopping Gospel
Choir. He also plays drums on "I'm Just Being Me," a house track for
Melba Moore, a house remix for Roy Ayers, Ten City, Leroy Burgess,
The Dells, Jazmin Sky, and Ascendant. Eric is also the official drummer
with the Hammond Organ Company videos introducing their new synth
line. Eric also produced tracks for rap artist A.O.N.
( http://aonmusik.ning.com/ ), Lupe Fiasco, and Street Clergy, and has his
own music production website under his DJ name, DJ MARBLL
