D.J Middleton is the drummer and co-founder of Acius, a progressive metal band from New Haven, Connecticut. He also plays for Revelation Church, located in Bozrah, Connecticut.

His interest in percussion began when he was 13, inspired by a local drummer from his hometown church.

But after listening to Anti-Flag, The Exploited, The Misfits, The Casualties, and The Clash, D.J found punk rock. He started to mimic the styles of these artists and play in bands around his hometown, which has hosted Within the Ruins, Behold Oblivion, These Green Eyes, and Breathing Process.

As he matured artistically, so did his technical ability. This opened up new doors for him, particularly in the metal scene. He played in his first metal band in 2003 with the guitar player he would later found Acius with.

Recently, D.J has been playing the Northeast regional circuit with Acius. The band performed at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in 2014; they are also scheduled to play a date on The Summer Slaughter Tour when it comes to New England later in 2015.

D.J’s style is “technical without sacrificing emotion. He is the rhythmic cornerstone of Acius, but his stage presence often makes him the band’s unintentional focal point when playing live.”

D.J has shared a bill with bands like: Iced Earth, Texas in July, Unearth, and Nile. Heendorses Silverfox Drumsticks and Drumtacs.
