Damian Raymond
At age 13, I found my true calling as a drummer when I joined my first band, a Metallica tribute band called Pleading Insanity. Although we never got past the “practice” stage as a band, and never got to truly play a show, it did pave the way for the type of music that I would most desire to play. After countless attempts throughout most of high school to put together a metal band with multiple classmates, I was on the verge of giving up. I finally decided that maybe playing drums was meant to be more of a hobby for my life. So at age fifteen, from time to time, I would visit a friend's house, who happened to have an older brother who could play the guitar pretty well, and we would goof around and play different cover tunes that ranged from rock to metal, more as like a fun way to pass the time. After a while though, even that stopped, and I wondered if I was just never meant to become a musician…. That is, until I got a call from that same fella at age seventeen.
He and a coworker of his were putting together a metal band, and he wanted me to hop on as their drummer. And thus, the band To Rise We Fall was born in 2007. After acquiring a bassist to fill out the lineup not long after that, we began writing original music. Pretty soon we released some demos and were playing out regularly and gaining a small following.
Unfortunately the momentum would come to an end with the departure of some members, and we were forced to take a hiatus.
Then, in 2012, we acquired a new bassist and came back with a vengeance, under a new name…. Out of the ashes of TRWF, Dawn of End was born. Although we have gone through multiple lineup changes over the years and are a very different band now compared to where we were then, we have been consistently active. We have released two full length albums, “Battles of Illumination” (which I did drums and backing vocals on) and “An Optimistic Dark” (which featured a different drummer while I performed lead vocals), an EP entitled “Satirical Brutality” (which I did drums and lead vocals on) and a number of demos, and are currently in the process of writing our third full length.
Throughout our career, we have been honored and humbled to be able to share the stage with renowned national acts such as Soulfly, Unearth, Vital Remains, Left to Die, Incite, Arrival of Autumn, Skeletal Remains, Mortuous, Marc Rizzo, Cannabis Corpse, Scarlett O'Hara, Across the Whitewater Tower, Casket Robbery, Nights of Malice, Corpus Christi and many more, as well as a countless plethora of notable and renowned local acts.
Having managed to outlive many of the bands that we have played with over the years, we feel that we have really proven ourselves as a consistent mainstay in the New England metal scene, and we have absolutely zero intention of stopping.
As a musician, I am very passionate and very dedicated to the local scene I have been blessed enough to continue to be a part of, and I intend on continuing that dedication, maybe even for the rest of my life.
