Curtis Byrd

Curtis Byrd lives in Los Angeles, California where he works full-time as a drummer/ percussionist touring the U.S and overseas with artists representing a wide variety of musical genres. Most recently he has been on the road with platinum recording artist Baby Bash, Frankie J, and Paula DeAnda, playing at the Power House Show in Anaheim, concerts in the Philippines and the U.S., as well as a USO tour to Iraq last year. Currently, Byrd is rehearsing for a tour with Marty James of One Block Radius.

In addition to touring and being featured with Pop, Hip Hop and Rap artists, Byrd enjoys playing the Blues, R&B and Rock and Roll. Key Frances, Bus Boys, Lauren Torantino, and Shaun Kama are just a few of the bands Curtis has recorded and toured with in recent years. While living in the Northwest, he toured with Moon Dog & Linda Hornbuckle Band and played alongside the great Bernard Purdy.

While home in LA between studio sessions, Byrd frequently perform for private parties and special events such as the Avatar Premier, the Price is Right Anniversary Party, Playboy mansion engagements, and enjoys playing percussion for many LA area clubs, fitness classes and festivals. He also plays regularly with the Agape International Choir in Culver City, California, which is also streamed live around the world.

Recent Cable Television appearances include the AVN Awards with Baby Bash and Fast Track to Fame with Shawn Kama & the Kings of the Wild Frontier rounding out the many avenues through which Curtis Byrd and the groove of his drumming is widely visible.

Curtis Byrd was blessed at an early age with an astounding musical ear and began drumming at age 2 on a stack of phone books behind the drums of a children's church choir. Byrd was born fourth in a family of six to a gospel evangelist in Chicago and he is the grandson to renowned singer Wesley Long. At age fourteen, Byrd joined a gospel band and began playing with his grandfather's band, Son of Jones.

Byrd continued to play drums in church throughout his adolescence and joined the school marching band in fourth grade where he continued to play every year until he graduated from Hudson Bay High school in Vancouver, Washington. After attending the Art Institute of Seattle completing courses in the Music Business Program Byrd moved to Los Angeles, CA. where he is doing what he was clearly meant to do - traveling the world sharing his talent alongside many amazing artists and bands performing onstage behind the drums.
