My story is similar to many, full of ups and downs. A roller coaster journey for sure. The prevailing theme has been
God’s unmerited favor, love, protection, and redemption. Through the years music has been my outlet, my
passion, my dream.
As early as the age of 5 I loved the sound, look and idea of the drums. I remember the music played by the DJ at
the roller skating rink. Listening to that great music while skating really helped draw me more and more into music.
My teen years were me in school choir and my youth worship team as a singer. My friends and I even had a
“cover” group for a bit where we performed DC Talk covers in front of both our youth and children’s church groups
as well as a couple other youth groups and special events hosted at our church. Despite that fun, I felt that playing
the drums was calling.
As God often does when creating destiny, He brought a special influencer into my life…my youth pastor, Kevin
Stone. Growing up in southern California, there are lots of things to do every day of every year. Kevin allowed our
youth group opportunity after opportunity to be exposed to Christian music; from DC Talk to Petra, Newsboys to
Third Day, Audio Adrenaline and the O.C. Supertones. These groups and others provided me experiences that
solidified my calling to be a touring drummer. However, I still was not afforded the ability to start learning drums.
On February 5, 2003 while serving in the U.S. Army my life was forever changed. On this day my life was spared in
a horrific accident; unfortunately I lost the majority of my sight. I was both figuratively, and literally, in a dark
place. When out of tragedy God birthed my destiny. I may have lost my sight, but I never lost the vision God had
for my life. I finally was able to escape to the drums. I escaped into the music that had inspired me for so many
years. The love of the Heavenly Father allowed me to step into the destiny He had for me, through unconventional
circumstances and tragedy came fulfilled dreams.
May of 2013 was the birth of All Together United. Yes, a blind drummer, living out a calling and destiny that would
have never been possible without a loving Heavenly Father. A Heavenly Father committed to loving His child
enough to work through life’s curveballs to launch a life of dreams.
