Ashton Milliken began drumming at age 9 in the small town of Clinton, North Carolina after seeing an
electric set of drums in his church. What started out as just a hobby became a passion and then a career. He
started off just jamming with his friends and playing for his church worship team. Eventually, he joined
his local school’s band program in 6th grade. He remained active throughout middle and high school, and
attended Campbell University (2007-2011) to study music where he turned pro.

Upon graduating from Campbell, Ashton is an active educator in the Raleigh area teaching private
drum lessons, teaching music in a local school, as well as being drumline instructor for pep bands and
marching bands at the high school and college level.

Ashton performs with many cover bands, jazz bands, symphonies, theater pit orchestras, and as a session
musician. He is an in-demand freelance percussionist in the emerging NC music scene for many different
styles of music. He currently serves as principal percussionist and Timpanist for the Sand Hills Symphony.
Ashton is also a composer. His percussion works include snare solos, drum set solos, drum set duets, and
cadences for marching band.

He has worked and/or performed with members of the North Carolina Symphony, Reuben Morgan
(Hillsong United), Nate Campbell (Tommy Lee goes to college), Ramon Kenan (Shirley Caesar, Tommy
Dorsey band), and Ivan Hampden (Luther Vandross, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, etc.). He takes the most pride
in having worked with the United States Army Ground Forces Band based in Fort Bragg, NC, where he was able to sit in on timpani
and drum set.

Ashton appeared on ESPN while in college and on the television show produced by Studio 421 in
Wilmington, NC on 2 separate occasions. Studio 421 was broadcast on the NC NBC affiliates.

Ashton played drums for The Morning Society, a rock cover band that performs regionally,
The Wrest Jazz Band, a jazz quartet playing around the area, and most notably The Will McBride Group. The WMG has
shared the stage with ZZ Top, Styxx, Gregg Allman, Aaron Neville, Sixpence None the Richer, and Toad The Wet Sprocket.

Ashton moved to Savannah, GA in from 2014-2017 where he mostly performed with the band, Esteban's Hat, around southeastern Georgia.

He has had the honor of traveling to the Middle East to perform for United States Military members.

He is now back in North Carolina on the performing scene throughout the state.

He lives in Georgia with his wife, Alex, who is an accomplished pianist, and their daughter, Aria.
