Andy “The Hammer” Reed

The Pinkerton Raid/Independent

Hailing from Littleton, Colorado, Reed has made considerable strides over the past decade in the region: from recording 5 EPs while in high school and cutting his teeth at local venues and bars, he went on to playing shows overseas in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, Thailand and Morocco, to name a few. After returning stateside in 2017, Reed found himself traversing an up-staircase, playing with 4-5 bands at a time on top of teaching drums at two School of Rock locations in Northern Virginia.

When progressive metal band New Order of Existence needed a drummer in 2017, Andy Reed came in for an audition. When pop rocker Rhett Repko needed a drummer for his music video “Thnx For the Ride”, the videographer dropped Reed’s name. When Omega Recording Studios needed a session drummer for their analog reel-to-reel recording classes, they called in “The Hammer”--named for his high-impact style of playing--to throw down some heavy grooves on tape. Around the Washington D.C./Maryland/Virginia area, Reed is recognized for his versatility, intensity and perhaps most importantly, his passion for the craft.

Notable releases include the release of the 7-song record Kemistry (2018) with NOE that is turning heads in the United States as well as in Mexico, Spain and regions of South America (Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Argentina). With Rhett Repko, Reed recorded the Nashville-produced single “Before She Knows” (2018) that charted on the National College Radio Charts at #180 (peak May 11, 2018), followed by the success of the self-released single “Lately Baby” that soared to #71 (peak Sept. 18, 2018) in the U.S., Canada, and central Europe. Reed has been featured in popular music videos--with Rhett Repko, “And I Told Her So” (Aug. 1, 2018); “Before She Knows” (Sept. 1, 2018); and “A Broken Song” (Spring 2019); With NOE, "Te Illumine" (Feb. 11, 2019); with Dow Domi Jones, "DMV Hold Me Down” (Feb. 28, 2019); and many more session recordings that Reed has appeared on.

Currently Reed lives outside of Raleigh in North Carolina, playing with folk rockers The Pinkerton Raid.
