Brandon Breon was born in San Luis Obispo, California and raised in the Five Cities area along the Central Coast. His journey behind the kit truly began at age 14 when he stepped in to play drums for his church during his freshman year of high school. What started as necessity quickly became obsession, accelerating his development in groove, feel, and gospel-influenced chops. By his junior year, Brandon was fully immersed in music—joining concert band, jazz band, winter band, drumline, and forming multiple bands with friends, laying the foundation for his versatility as a drummer.
A pivotal moment came through jazz studies, where exposure to advanced technique pushed Brandon to explore extreme metal as a means of expanding speed, control, and endurance. That decision proved transformative, shaping over 90% of the technical vocabulary he still relies on today. Drawing from metal’s precision, gospel’s pocket, and fusion’s fluidity, Brandon developed a dynamic and expressive playing style influenced by drummers such as Chris Turner (Oceans Ate Alaska), Matt Greiner (August Burns Red), and Danny Carey (Tool).
At 18, Brandon joined the U.S. Navy, where he later founded the progressive metalcore band Chasing Wind with his two friends, Patrick and Wade. Despite the challenges of military life—including recording their 2019 Instinct EP while Brandon was deployed aboard a submarine—the band steadily gained momentum. Chasing Wind toured in 2025 with Illusence, performed at Winter Fest and RiveraFest, and has shared the stage with other notable bands such as Cultist and Snake Father. Now based in the Pacific Northwest, Brandon and Chasing Wind are preparing for the release of their full-length album Transience in 2026. As a drummer rooted in metal, fusion, and gospel, Brandon brings power, precision, and musical intention to every performance—anchored by the expressive voice of Soultone Cymbals.
