Born and raised in Los Angeles, Steven started playing at the age of 12. His biggest influence that drove him to drum was Josh Freese of A Perfect Circle . At the age of 14, he was offered an audition for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where his career began.
During his time with the LA Archdiocese, he had the opportunity to play with a lot of liturgical musicians and famous church musicians such as Tony Melendez, Jesse Mannabusen, and John Angotti.

At the age of 16, he took 6 months of lessons from Grammy winner and drummer, Henry Newmark. Mr. Newmark is an accomplished musician from Berkeley College of Music. While under his instruction, Steven gained knowledge in Jazz methods and theory.

Soon after, he tutored under Victor Vannacore III ( drummer and percussionist for Survivor TV show)

With all the lessons over the 3 years, he took what he knew and ended up fully replacing the church drummer and being full time.
While in his senior yea of High School he joined Jazz band in 2006 at Birmingham Senior High in Van Nuys CA, and from there continued to play at church and for various bands around Los Angeles.

Since 2006 Steven has been have been working with LA Professional guitarist and best friend, Patrick Wade Caldwell to come up with many jazz, rock, fusion projects.
Their band Rhythm and Poetry opened up for Digital Underground’s Humpty Hump ( Tupacs OG band) back in 2012.

In 2013 Steven moved to Louisville Kentucky for an opportunity to play for the Archdiocese.

Since he’s been in Kentucky, he has recorded an album with a band called Mode Roulette, which was mixed and mastered by The Jackson 5 producer, Jeff Lewis, who is LA based, done a few live radio spots, and played on tour with up and coming Country Artist, Ernie Akins Jr.

He is father of 3, married and still busy with the music life.

Currently, He is the Co Percussionist/Drummer for St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Louisville KY, runs his business with his wife out of their home ( Percussive Pathways LLC) where he does private lessons and full drum maintenance.
