Ezra Williams
Ezra R. Williams, professionally known as Phat The Artist, started his musical journey as a
singer and drummer at the age of 9 while attending church in Pinson, Alabama. Primarily a self-
taught drummer and overall musician, with the encouragement of family he further increased his
skill and foundation of playing drums while working with artists such as Praise Worshipers
Quartet, DieDra, The Alabama Blues Queen & The Ruff Pro Band. Although Phat The Artist
specializes in music genres such as Blues, Smooth Jazz, Funk, and Soul, he has shared the
stage with artists like American Idol finalist, Jessica Meuse and Billboard Country artist, Trey
Lewis; demonstrating his versatility in all genres spanning from jazz fusion & alternative to rock.
Phat The Artist is inspired by many artists, particularly drummers, such as Dennis Chambers,
Simon Phillips, Steve Gadd, Clyde Stubblefield, Tony Royster, Jr., Steve Jordan, Marcus
Thomas, Sheila E., and Buddy Rich. He has also been inspired by his uncle Keithen Ruff, who
was the guitar player for blues legend, Bobby Rush. Keithen Ruff created the Ruff Pro Band for
DieDra, The Alabama Blues Queen and invited Phat The Artist to join as the principal drummer,
playing with this band for 10 years.
As an artist and producer of his own music, Phat The Artist (see music by Roszunn) has
released six albums and multiple singles since 2011. Performing 90% of the music in his
productions with his main instruments being piano and drums. He has collaborated and
produced music with other Independent Soul artists such as Teri Tobin, Sulpacio Jones, and
Halo Wheeler. Phat The Artist currently resides in Orlando, Florida and I currently a member of the Reggae/Rock band; The Lost Tropics and Classic Rock cover band; Speed Limit 70.
