Zach Huckabee

Zach Huckabee

Cosmic Kitten

Zach started playing the drums at the age of 4. His main drum influences starting out were John Bonham – Led Zeppelin, Dave Grohl - Nirvana/Them Crooked Vultures/Queens of the Stone Age, Neil Peart – Rush, Taylor Hawkins – Foo Fighters/Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, Jimmy Sullivan - Avenged Sevenfold and Lars Ulrich - Metallica.

Throughout most of his child hood Zach heard the sounds of the 80s emanating from his Fathers car radio. Growing up to the music of bands like Dokken, Van Halen, Poison, and Winger as well as the classics such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Rush and The Beatles, Zach worked at learning to play the drums. Inspired by Peter Criss he honed his skills until finding the heavy metal styling of Metallica in his middle school years.

He played his first show at age 10 on the syndicated Mark and Brian Radio Show on KLOS in Los Angeles. He played alongside his brother Josh Huckabee – Guitar and his Dad, Joe Huckabee - Bass. He also took on the duty of lead vocals. They performed on their annual Christmas show at a Sold Out Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. He shared the stage that night with REO Speedwagon, Johnny Lang, The Alan Parsons Project and more. Since then Zach has shared the stage with members of Dio, Armored Saint, Dokken, Lynch Mob, The Offspring, The Avengers, Mike Watt and many others.

Upon his discovery of metal he listened to bands of all varieties of metal from Avenged Sevenfold to the depths of King Diamond and bands like Children of Bodom or Venom. As these genres and influences crept their way into his playing style Zach kept his roots as a base to build on.

When walking thru the gates of his high school which he would appear to love and hate through his four year stay at the institution, he stepped out of a summer that had changed him forever having found a home in the music of punk bands from Four Year Strong, The Wonder Years, Set Your Goals, Terror and Blink 182 to bands like the Germs, Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers and The Misfits, and into a new world. His High school years were not without difficulty, but going through the motions with bands in the style of Kings of Leon, Motorhead, Buzzcocks, The Black Keys, The Strokes, Foo Fighters, and various Grunge bands like Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Love Battery in his ear proved to be more pleasing.

In this time he was Drumming and sharing Lead Vocals in his band “The Dynamix” with his brother Josh Huckabee – 18 - on guitar and Lead Vocals and Nathan York – 17 – on Bass. They were creating quite a buzz in the Southern California Music scene opening for the likes of George Lynch, Skid Row and Great White.

Shortly after that Zach played drums in the band Sunset Cannons with his brother Josh Huckabee - 21 - on lead vocals and guitar, Sean Keene - 21 - Bass, and Jon Onate - 21 - rhythm guitars who shared the stage with bands such as Steel Panther, Metallachi and more. After releasing one album Sunset Cannons unfortunately dissolved and was no more

Shortly after Zach began work with his own solo music titled "Ozone" seeing 1 release, several acoustic cover records with a new full length studio record on the way.

During this period of time Zach started playing drums for singer/guitar player Karen Marie not long after taking on a song-writing role for a full collaborative effort titled Cosmic Kitten. Cosmic Kitten tours the world and has 3 full length releases under their belt with another one on the way in 2023 titled "Laugh of a Lifetime" with 2 tours on the horizon.

Zach continues to listen to and be influenced by music of all styles from Classical to Metal in its most aggressive forms. Most frequently returning to listen to the music of Foo Fighters and any band surrounding them such as Probot, Them Crooked Vulture, Queens of the Stone Age, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, Chevy Metal, Arctic Monkeys, Angles and Airwaves, Cage the Elephant ect.

Zach works side by side with his band mates to create music that not only they can enjoy but that the world around them can love as well, adding his own spice to every song, with his heavy hitting, simple and pounding drum parts continuing to not only be known for his solid and powerful drum work but for his high energy and extremely animated stage performances as well. “It’s never a dull moment on stage when Zach’s behind the kit”.
