Vincent Richardson

Vincent Richardson

aka Sir Vince The Drummer

Vincent Richardson, aka Sir Vince The Drummer, has a unique background born and raised by military parents originally in Belgium where his family lived till the age of 9. His passion for drums started at the age of 4 years old, and like many others he started out making music with pots-n-pans alongside chopsticks, while catching his mother singing in the kitchen as she cooked and cleaned.

As a young child Vincent continued to carry his passion for drums across other states and countries. Vincent has lived in Augusta, GA (3 years), Sierra Vista, AZ and graduated high school at Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan, where his family lived for 6 years. Currently, he has resided in Ohio for the past 18 years.

His first church drumming opportunity came at the age of 11 at Torii Station, Okinawa, Japan with Torii Chapel. Torii Chapel matriculated to an off-base church named God’s Way Ministries. As a preteen his pastors or spiritual parents trusted his gift at heart to start playing for the congregation. The opportunities would then create his first concert experience at the age of 12 and music production experience at the age of 16 years old. At the age of 17 he would go on to play for his family’s church in Tucson, AZ during his college breaks. Vincent took a break playing due to college demands studying as an engineer, but never did he lose his touch for drums. Upon completion of both undergraduate and graduate studies at respective (Ohio) HBCUs (Wilberforce and Central State University) he would find himself with opportunities to include playing at World Harvest Church Bible College in Columbus, OH and traveling with local artists and singers.

Vincent’s interest to travel and represent local artists and singers speaks to the level of respect he has for the work behind the music. While playing for several local churches over the years he has produced work with national recording gospel artist Julian Littlejohn and has had the opportunity to play behind well-known gospel artist Vickie Winans. Also, to show great community service he earned a US Air Force Chapel multi-year contract at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, where he served as drummer for three years.

As both father and husband Vincent still loves making time to do what his heart loves. He enjoys jam sessions with his son, Zaccheus, who also has a drum set of his own and plays with passion at his early age. Additionally, Sir Vince The Drummer takes time to learn from several well-known respected drummers such as Tony Royster Jr., Calvin Rogers, Lacy Comer, Clemons Poindexter, Josiah Maddox, TJ aka Varo, Tony Taylor Jr., Tevin Curtis, Gabe, Eric Moore, Josh Mayfield, "J-rod" Sullivan, Wes Watkins, R. Allen Frost Jr., featured Soultone artists Nick Smith and Neekhoach Duhart and many more.

As a drummer humbling yourself to continue developing and expanding playmaking abilities is a test of work ethic, character and creativity. Also, understanding practice perfects purpose Vincent prides himself in free flow jam sessions contributing to both sensitivity and authenticity of music. He strongly believes this helps emphasize the importance of the tone of the soul while playing with Soultone cymbals.

Now, and as an endorsed Soultone artist it is only fitting to say the tone of this soul is only beginning! Thank you Soultone for the opportunity!

What makes Soultone cymbals different from other brands I have tried is both the uniqueness and distinctiveness in frequency, custom made quality and durability.

What I love about Soultone cymbals is the diverse genre of cymbals a drummer can mix and match to create their own sound or tone. I would say Soultone Cymbals are better than other cymbals because the name fits itself! As an artist you should always be passionate to create the tone of music from your soul! Thus, the reason why other drummers should try them out and continue to play with both purpose and passion from the tone of the soul with Soultone!
