Todd Myers has been playing the drums since the age of 14. Largely self-taught with a few lessons from amazing drummers like Greg Bissonette and Mark Craney. He has had a varied and extensive musical career from playing in the San Fernando Valley's premiere jam band, the Purpl Turtlz, to driving the rhythm behind L.A. pop-punk bands to touring with a few ecclectic sounding bay area bands. He has even played in a 7 piece traditional klezmer band called Yom Tov! For several years, Todd has been composing, arranging, and recording original music in an experimental project with long-time friend and musician, DL Lunabide and “Project Glitch”, a series of ambient musical soundscapes that allows him to explore spontaneous creativity and various percussive instruments including the doumbek, marimba, and keyboards.
Through Todd’s experience in the San Francisco, Austin, and Los Angeles music scenes, he has proven his versatility, musicality, and ability to adapt many times over. His love for jazz, as well as his comprehension of understated and improvisational playing has also been demonstrated as a performer in many live theatre bands. Always seeking to expand his musical knowledge, Todd has been listening and learning the feel of afro beat, soca, and one-drop reggae grooves, along with a steady diet of traditional blues shuffles. Currently Todd performs and records with many bands, songwriters and experimental projects.
~ Todd Myers ''music, like life..... is about improvising off your mistakes''
