T.J. Lacey

T.J. Lacey

Born in Santa Cruz, CA. T.J. Lacey grew up with a love for all music. Him and his two older sisters used to dance out to early 90s R&B and hip hop every day growing up in the slums of Reno up until he discovered rock/alternative music in his later years. Like any drummer in their adolescent stages he was always snapping his fingers, pounding on the dinner table and creating a pulse with any household object. At the age of 8 his family relocated to Everett, WA for a new beginning, but his constant natural rhythm kept expanding until he finally got his hand on an alto saxophone when he was 11 to follow in both of his older sister's footsteps. He enjoyed it, but the moment he sat to a drum kit in 7th grade he fell in love instantly. His friends had to pry him off before the band teacher came storming into the room because he wasn't supposed to be on them in the first place...

His parents gave in and got him his first CB drum kit when he was 14. From that moment forward he let his influence from his upbringing and all his surroundings show through in his performing. T.J. studied music technology at The Evergreen State College where he was a session drummer and performed in many experimental percussive/electronic music concerts. He had a brief stint as an intern and session drummer at Robert Lang Studio before quickly given an opportunity to evolve at 1 Shot Studio in Woodinville, WA. He is currently working on a solo project called After Either while learning production, engineering and songwriting along side 1 Shot Studio owner, Dylan Fant. He has toured all through the midwest with various talented bands and has become heavily involved with the Seattle music scene playing on his beloved custom DW kit. Today, he's also half of an emcee/drum hip hop duo called Double B & Laces and perform all over the northwest. You will still catch him snapping his fingers to the tempo in the stride of his walk and laying a beat down with a knife and spoon at the dinner table.
