Timothy “Timbo” Mitchell Sr.

My name is Timothy “Timbo” Mitchell Sr. At the tender age of 3, I began to grow an interest for music. My family also had a very strong passion for music. My mother carried a sweet tune with her voice. And my father played both bass and lead guitarist. He was also a great singer. One of his greatest known accomplishments was performing with the Alabama Blind Boys, playing as the guitarist. I started playing the drums when I was 11 years old. At the age of 12 I joined my middle school concert performing band. That’s when I learned how to read basic music notes. During my 9th, 10th, and 11th grades in high school, I played in the marching band. Also in my 10th and 11th grade years, I played in the jazz band. From that time on, I grew a passion for jazz music. When I graduated from high school I played with a group by the name of Stars of Faith. I went on my first ever tour with that group. Soon after, I played with many other gospel groups such as Galatians, The Gospel Boyz, The Sons of Heaven, just to name a few. In 2007, 2011, and 2015 I made it to the district finals on several occasions hosted by the Guitar Center, drum off competition. In 2014 I’ve done my first ever live recording with a contemporary and traditional gospel artist by the name of Carl B Phillips. In 2015, I did studio drum work with that same artist. My talent also allowed me to work with different local musician artists such as The Preston Toney Experience Band, Twon Green and Galaxy, and many more artists. I’m currently a part of a fun band by the name of Kayfabe: The Ppls Band. May God continue to stir up the gift!
