Artist Biography
Steven “Matrix” Moran is a professional drummer born and raised in San Diego, California. He began playing drums at the age of eight, heavily infl uenced by classic rock and metal artists ranging from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Testament and Slipknot. Spending hours playing along to records, he quickly developed a strong foundation and natural feel for percussion. He developed a high level of mastery in coordinating his arms and legs simultaneously, allowing for powerful, precise, and independent drumming across complex rhythms that were ahead of its time. Has performed live with bands Media Lab, Swan, Dark Illusion, Squeaky Fromme, Xeos, The Norse, Contortion, Fuzz Huzzi, and Authentic Sellout.

Band Leadership, Touring, and Endorsements
At age fi fteen, Steven signed his fi rst record deal with the progressive group Dark Illusion. He later signed another deal with Squeaky Fromme, continuing to build momentum in the progressive and heavy music scene. He then joined Swan to work on Pathogen, a project that further elevated his technical ability and musical range. Steven went on to co-found the band Media Lab, which became a major chapter in his career. The band secured multiple record deals, and during this time Steven earned various professional endorsements. He remained with Media Lab for approximately eight years, contributing extensively to recordings and live performances. Following Media Lab, Steven continued working as a live and studio drummer, collaborating with numerous bands and solo artists across multiple styles. He remains active in both performance and recording environments and continues to refi ne his sound and approach. Steven is currently endorsed by Soultone Cymbals and continues to push the boundaries of modern drumming through power, precision, and versatility.
