Sammy Ramone

Sammy Ramone

Sammy Ramone, born Samuel Santos in 1995 from Brea/Yorba Linda CA, grew up with a father who played drums. Therefore, he picked up the drum set at a very early age. His mother put him in music lessons and made sure he learned how to play piano and read music by age 5. As a baby, his father sat him in front of the TV watching tapes of live performances such as the famous Carlos Santana Sacred Fire live album concert in Mexico. His father put a single tom drum with sticks in front of him and he would just pound away with the heavy percussion ensemble of Santana.

Hitting Junior high, Sammy taught himself guitar & bass and also joined the concert band, which became a continuous class for him till college ended. First, he studied and earned his Associate's in Arts Degree in Music at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA. He then transferred just over the hill to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. In 2018, he earned his Bachelor's in Arts Degree in Music Industry Studies with an emphasis on recording, producing, music business, and of course, drums.

He has been involved in many types of different ensembles throughout those college years which includes:
Wind Ensemble, Latin-Jazz Ensemble, Top Jazz Ensemble & little Combo Jazz Ensembles, Percussion Ensemble, Soul/R&B Ensemble, & Singer-Songwriter Ensemble.
He also experienced 2 years of Drum Corps International with the open class corps, Incognito Drum & Bugle Corps.

He is now a recording artist and starting up his own recording studio under Hooligans Studio at his home in Yorba Linda. He writes and produces his own music and has released an album on all platforms called "It's All A Joke" under Sammy Ramone. He is now the main drummer for the hard rock band, Velvateen from Artesia, and the world reggae band, Irie NATIONz International from Riverside.

His biggest influences are Marky Ramone (The Ramones), Neil Peart (Rush), Travis Barker (blink 182), Stewart Copeland (The Police) & now Aric Improta (Fever 333) of the rock scene. In the jazz, reggae and world music scene, influences include Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Tommy Igoe, Carlton Barrett (Bob Marley), Michael Shrieve (Carlos Santana), Karl Perazzo (Santana), Wesley Finley (Rebelution) & Adam Patterson (The Expendables).
