Ryan Vernon is the drummer and one of the co-founders of Flowermarket, an indie rock outfit hailing from Canberra, Australia.

His interest in the drums started when he was 14, with his older brother and his music teacher egging him on to try out the kit. He learnt the very basics of drumming from those two and went from there, drawing influences from the music he listened to.

While he was beginning to learn, his teacher suggested various styles of music to listen and play along to, like ACDC, Foo Fighters and The White Stripes. Then he started to branch out listening to more heavy music, as well as much lighter more poppy tracks, ranging all the way from System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine to Twenty one Pilots.

Nowadays he listens to a much wider variety of styles, ranging from deathcore to cool jazz. He attempts to bring in this wide range of styles into one package within his indie rock band.

His band launched their self-titled EP in May of 2020 to all streaming services, and was met with great local success, with their hit single ‘Can’t Stop’ amassing well over 50,000 streams on Spotify alone.

His band Flowermarket have played out sold out shows at various venues around Canberra, and hope to bring their local success to the global stage.
