L.A. based drummer Ryan Krieger is a force to be reckoned with. His drumming combines the sheer power of rock, the tightness of funk, with jazz touches thrown in for good measure. Known for his sensitive, powerful, and inventive style, Ryan is equally comfortable switching styles from instrumental, singer/songwriter, rock, pop, jazz, latin, electronic, all the way to hardcore and metal.
Growing up around his father’s audiophile musings, exposed to hundreds of great albums played at the “proper volume,” Ryan discovered his own love for music, especially punk, metal, and jazz. While playing around in his native Northern NJ and New York City, he met up with jazz drummer Karl Latham. After studying for a year and a half with Karl, Ryan began his professional career.
Ryan has dabbled in different musical worlds over the past decade, shooting back and forth between the ever-burgeoning Jam band scene with Dr. Didg, Global Funk, and Blusirkut to the incredibly loyal Hardcore/Metal scene with the Cro-Mags, and later Harley’s War. More recently, Ryan has been performing school assemblies, conducting workshops, touring theater performances, and teaching lessons. In addition he has been hired for recording and session work with various producers, local performances with rock bands, organ trios, DJ’s (deep house and drum n’ bass projects), and improvised musical projects. Ryan has recorded and performed internationally throughout the USA, Canada, Europe, and Japan.
Ryan actively pursues the world of recording studio precision and experimentation, rendering performances on stage utilizing laptops, sequencers, and occasional effects. He occasionally moonlights as a guitar and bass player, and composes works for TV and Film. His peers regard him as an exceptional musician.
