Rui Balla Campos,born in Sao Paulo -Brazil.Moved to USA in 1992,when he was in search of his american dream.Music was always part of his calling...

His first connection was with his what he calls Half Brother,Claudio who invited him to play percussion in his Band,and soon took him to see his biggest music inspiration "the rippingtons".After that he started to take private classes with David Lima a great local percussionist.Since the first time he laid his hands on those congas,he knew music was inside of him.Sooner he was at Newark Community school of Arts,when he met his mentor Mr.Ed,with Mr. Ed he learned all about afro -cuban rithms.Sooner he developed such a great technique and started to play with great people.For 2 years he was there and performed for newark Mayor special banquet and NJPAC Schoolarship.He started playing in churchs ,worship bands,but he knew that something bigger was ahead.In about a year he decided to take serious. In about 2 years later he was playing all over tri state area, and in a occassion he called"purpose",the current drummer from his band decided to move back to brazil,the he step up on the drumset and started to play drums.

Since then he develop such a great playing,timing and odd tempos.Private classes and lots of hours of practice put him in contact with great and talented people.From straight rock to crazy odd brazilian tempos,ballas has developed a technique and has add his own flavor to everything he does.

In His Resume he has a wide variety of people and places that he played.He was involved in recordings of bands like True Witness and was part of A brazilian Christian band call" banda Nova Direcao".

Also he played with great names as Dali Blu(USA),Fellipe Prata(USA),Ludmila ferber(BRA),Fernandinho(BRA)David Quinlan(BRA).Joabi Alves(USA), and many others.

At this point he still doing gigs in New York and New jersey,clubs,bars also recording.He is currently started to work with Cora Sorrow who is working on their first album.Also he recorded with True Witness and Dali BLu.

Endorsed by Soultones,a company who truly believes in drummers,he will use extreme series .He is also involved in non-profit programs in northern jersey,which includes drums and percussion assemble classes with inner city kids.Rui Balla for too many years was just a free lancer studio musician,he decided now to step up and go outside the 4 walls.He will be working with a upcoming band " Cora Sorrow",will be doing some gigs and recordings whe he is available.Now with Soultones my sound is ready to go to the next level.I am truly happy in being part of Soultone family.Thanks to Iki and tomer.With support of his family and friends Rui balla has reached a great reputation in music business in the Tri State Area....Soon worldwide.
