Rudah Tozati

Rudah is a Brazilian drummer based in Perth, Australia. Self-taught, his drumming experience began at 13 years old.

In 1998, at 15, Rudah joined to Chocolate Diesel, an Emo-Hardcore band from São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, which he played in gigs and tours in Brazil. As Chocolate Diesel’s drummer, Rudah recorded some songs that were launched on compilations and a video clip.

In 2001, Chocolate Diesel had a break, then some musicians started a new project called Vulneravell. Rudah was called to play with them. Vulneravell recorded 3 albums, one videoclip and they played on many gigs and festivals in Brazil. Rudah managed with friends a label called 2693 Records, that released all Vulneravell albums.

In 2006, Rudah moved to study in a university in the South of Brazil. There, Rudah met new friends and he joined a punk hardcore band called So What. They recorded 2 songs and played many gigs, supporting some important independent bands. Two years later, Rudah was invited to play with a band called Draw the Line. He recorded one EP, played at many gigs and festivals. Rudah left the band in 2011, when he decided to move back to São Paulo.

In 2012, Rudah started a new project of shoegaze and experimental garage rock called Tropical Tornado with his old friend Perito Perez, who played bass on Chocolate Diesel and Vulneravell. Rudah left the band in 2016, because he moved to Perth, Australia.

In 2017, Rudah was invited to have a jam with his new Aussie friend, Kyle O’Brien. Their first experience playing together worked very well, so Kyle called his friend, Jarrod Murfit, to play bass and Mitchell Harris, as frontman. This way they started a new band in Perth: Asbestos Fence. They recorded their first demo in 2019. This demo was released on Bandcamp and they made some cassette copies. In 2021, Rudah recorded 3 songs that will be released in a split between Asbestos Fence and Lounge Tourist, a punk local band. Asbestos Fence connected Rudah to other Australian musicians.

Jarrod, the Asbestos Fence bass player, invited Rudah to join his other project, a punk band called Nervous. In early 2022, Nervous recorded 8 songs that were to be released on vinyl by Another Rat Records, a local independent label.

At the same time, Rudah and Kyle started a new band called Sooks. With two girls on the boat, the vocalist Angelique (Wound Honey) and Morgin (Lounge Tourist and The Drowners), the bassist player. Rudah recorded Sooks’ first Demo, including 7 songs, which was released on stream services and cassette copies.

Rudah still plays drums for three different bands and he has been busy sharing his time as an educator in a childcare centre in Perth, where he teaches music and physical activities. Beside that, Rudah has graduation in Advertising (Social Communication), in Brazil, being a specialist in social media.
