Robin Lai

Robin Lai

Mortars, FTG, Independent

Robin's interest in drumming can be traced back to when he was 6, after his parents gave him a toy drumset for his birthday. The set didn't last long as it was destroyed very quickly but the seeds were planted and his course set. Robin pursued his musical ambitions at Berklee College of Music and has been active in the music scene ever since.

Currently based in New York, Robin can be found rockin' out behind the set with Mortars, a rock group fronted by members of the world famous Blue Man Group. He is also active in the Broadway scene, having performed with the cast of Hair, Forever Deadward (A Twilight Musical Parody), and assuming the role of drum playing Myron Spoonapple in the Drama Desk nominated Off Broadway production of Dear Edwina. When not behind the kit, Robin can be found engineering, mixing and producing in the studio for various clients such as Broadway and Off Broadway artists, various labels and independent bands. He is also the Chief Technical Officer for Indie Chameleon, an independent label.
