Rivkah Ross

Rivkah Ross

Rivkah began to play drums after being inspired by a Sevendust concert in Miami, Florida in 2000. After a few years of being self-taught and playing in local bands, Rivkah attended Broward College in Davie, Florida as a music major and studied jazz drum set and classical percussion. She played and recorded with a variety of South Florida artists, including Andrew Bayuk, the four-time winner of the American Idol Underground Folk Competition.

In 2008, Rivkah made the decision to move out to California to study and join the Los Angeles scene. A few years later she graduated from Musicians Institute with HER Bachelor of Music Degree. While being a student at Musicians Institute, Rivkah went on tours around California with Jeff Hershey and the Heartbeats, a 1960's soul-rock band, and recorded and played with many local artists. She has opened for Dick Dale and the B-52s with Jeff Hershey and the Heartbeats, and played as part of a drum ensemble on Stevie Wonder's Annual House of Toys at the Nokia Theater.

Since the fall of 2012, Rivkah has been on three European tours with Jeff Hershey and the Heartbeats. They have performed in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. Rivkah continues to play and record in Los Angeles with two unique all-women jazz bands, Lady Jazz and Hard Bop Chicks, and the pop band Lia and The Daymakers. Her favorite drummers are Roy Haynes, Cindy Blackman, Terri Lyne Carrington, Sean Reinert, Morgan Rose, Elvin Jones, and Tony Williams.
