Ramon Lopez “Suro”

Ramon Lopez, lovingly called Suro by his close friends, has studied the art of making

music through the drums all his life. He began lessons at the age of 5 and has since

continued re-tuning and fine tuning his abilities as a drummer and a musician.

Throughout his musical career Suro has performed for and with a variety of musicians

and groups such as the Jim Cullum Jazz Band, Group 1 Crew, Ken Reynolds, Lucia

Parker, DCI group Teal Sound, his own jazz quartet Luminosity, and various Disney

bands.

Ramon studied percussion at the University of Central Florida then shortly after moved

to Japan for a one year contract with Tokyo Disneyland as a live stage performer, where

he learned to speak, read and write the language as well as studied from taiko

drummers and performers.

He is now living in the states working in full time ministry at Westover Hills Assembly as

the drummer and orchestra librarian. He is also part of the band called Into The Ocean,

which is a progressive experimental Christian band. Ramon can be heard on several

recordings including the Erly Thorton Band, his own band, Luminosity, the second

Westover Hills Worship studio release, Something Good, and After The World Came

Undone, a full length studio release from Into The Ocean.

Ramon hopes to continue his recording career and further develop his other musical

skills, piano, bass, and guitar, and someday return to Japan to fulfill his dream of

building and leading a music ministry and developing a prominent christian music scene

in that country.
