Ralph (Champ) Mendez is an American of Mexican descent professional drummer/percussionist. He is also a producer and lyricist. Hails from North Side Houston, Tx. U.S.A. Drummer for the thrash band Cremator and To Tame A Land (A Tribute To Iron Maiden. Ralph started playing drums at the age of 14 which he considered too old so he studied hard practicing every day and playing catch up for all those lost years of not having a drum kit. He got his first drum set from a pawn shop and his father made him his very first pair of sticks as his dad was a master carpenter. He is mostly known for his fancy footwork including lots of hi - hat fills and fast double bass with tricky bass drum patterns but also has fast hands and can keep up with the best of them. With 30 plus years experience under his belt Mendez has seen his share of stages around the world and also has many releases under Cremator and various other artists. His most recent release "La Isla Del Diablo" 2019 by Cremator under Mass Cremation Entertainment was mastered by Grammy Award Winner Dave Donnelly @DNA Mastering Tarzana, California. When not playing live or recording Ralph spends his time writing poetry which sometimes end up as songs on records. He has credited John Bonham, Neil Peart, Nick Menza, Louie Clemente, Dave Lombardo, Mark Zonder, Stewart Copeland, Vinny Appice, and Virgil Donati as some of his major influences. Ralph shows no signs of slowing down and is currently working on a new release for Cremator due out early next year.
