Puru Sharma
Puru Sharma is a jazz fusion drummer from Jaipur, India, now based in New York City, where he is actively performing and collaborating across the scene. His playing blends the intensity of heavy metal with the sophistication of jazz, funk, rock, and hip-hop—marked by deep groove, precision, and explosive energy.
Before moving to the U.S., Puru made his mark in India’s metal scene as the drummer for Elixirore and MÖRDARE, two of Jaipur’s leading progressive and thrash/death metal bands. Elixirore’s debut album, Enervate, earned a Rolling Stone India feature and established him as a commanding live performer.
A Berklee College of Music graduate, Puru has since expanded his artistry through jazz and contemporary improvisation, performing with a wide range of ensembles and renowned artists, including Earl Slick, the legendary guitarist for David Bowie. He has performed at the sold-out Agganis Arena in Boston, with an audience that included Sara Bareilles and André 3000. Whether leading a fusion project or locking into a deep pocket on stage, Puru Sharma continues to push musical boundaries while staying rooted in groove, emotion, and connection.
