Paulee D. Brown Paulee “G”

Paulee D. Brown (Paulee “G”) was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on November 4 1993. He has always been exposed to music. He started singing and harmonizing at age 3. It was at that point that his parents knew that he had a gift for music. Paulee started singing in the gospel choir at Baconton Missionary Baptist Church at 4 years old. He was the only boy in the soprano section. His father Paul is a drummer and would have Paulee by his side wherever he went to play music. By age 4, Paulee started playing percussion instruments that included bongos and congas alongside his father at many musical events, conferences and church services. By the age of 9 Paulee began playing as one of the main drummers at Shammah International Worship and Training Center, Viernheim, Germany. He then began to play for major church conferences throughout Germany. He was the drummer for the group Highly Exalted, a gospel ministry which conducted workshops throughout Germany. He has played back up for gospel artists Minster Byron Cage, Canton Jones, Brent Jones, Trin-i-tee-5:7, Witness and VaShawn Mitchell. Paulee has been afforded the opportunity to meet some of the world’s greatest gospel/RnB/rock/fusion/ drummers. These drummers are George “Spanky” McCurdy, Mike Terrana, Felix Pollard, David “Fingers” Haynes, Jost Nickel, Chris Coleman, Rashid Williams and Mylious Johnson. At 18 years old, Paulee stays busy throughout the music scene in Germany and is one of the most requested gospel drummers in the area. He still finds time to be the section leader for the drum line at Wiesbaden American High School and conducts the advance band. Currently, Paulee is the main drummer at his church and is the drummer for Just For Him Ministry (J4H), a ministry that functions as a non-profit organization and promotes Christ-honoring events and activities for the Kingdom-Minded Christians of all denominations in Germany Military Community and surrounding areas.

In 2011, Paulee made history at his High School. He was the first drummer in Wiesbaden American High School history to be selected to the DoDDS Europe Jazz Seminar which is conducted by world renowned trombonist Jiggs Whigham. Paulee was also named “The Most Outstanding Instrumentalist” for the 2011 Jazz Seminar, a first time accomplishment for a drummer. In 2012, he was again selected to play the 2012 Jazz Seminar. He also received the “Most Outstanding Instrumentalist” award again. Paulee is a truly gifted musician who loves God and knows that his musical gifts are used to bless others. Not only is he a gifted drummer, he also plays Piano/Keyboard, Alto/Tenor Saxophone and Guitar. Paulee has an exceptional ear for composition and has composed many songs in his home studio and is currently working on a CD project. As mentioned earlier, Paulee is an awesome vocalist and has developed into an awesome singer. He also has an awesome ear for hearing vocal harmonies and to teach harmonies. Currently he is a student at the Peter-Cornelius-Conservatorium in Mainz, Germany under the tutelage of Europe renowned jazz drummer Simon Zimbardo. Simon's teaching is taking Paulee to new heights with his playing. Paulee auditioned and was accepted to attend the Port Jazz Townsend Festival in Washington State, where he experienced Jazz focused instruction under the guidance of Jazz great John Clayton. Paulee also auditioned and was selected to participate in Grammy Camp in Brooklyn, NY. Grammy camp offers the campers the opportunity to work in integrated industry teams consisting of three fields: Music Business & Production; Singer/Songwriter; and Performance for Bass, Drums, Guitar, Keyboard, Vocal and Winds & Strings. This real-world, hands-on environment will provide an in-depth look at the entire creative process from the first spark of original material through the promotion of a finished product. The camp culminated in a launch party at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. Paulee produced the intro song for the Grammy camp and another song for one of the young groups there. Paulee made many connections with other gifted young musicians. To top things off, his video and picture was on a very large marquee in Times Square. This was a “breathtaking” moment for him and his family. Paulee is currently endorsed by Soultone Cymbals.

Paulee’s musical future is a very bright one. Paulee reached his goal which is to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a first year student there and is studying music performance in the percussion program and is truly enjoying the experience. His long term goal is to pursue a degree in music so he can teach as well as be a professional drummer. His motto is “Do your best and let God do the rest”!
