Casting Shadows

Nick Gallagher was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode island, and started playing drums at the young age of 10. He originally became interested in drum's because of his older cousin, Danny.

"I always liked watching him play. My parents and I would go to my Aunt and Uncle's house and every time, I would see his drums and just want to play them. He played them in front of me plenty of times, but to this day, I still haven't played his drums".

Nick started taking music lesson's at his elementary school, and eventually moved over to a local music shop where he would take lessons till about the age of 16. His parents eventually bought him his first 5 piece drum set from the brand Peavey. Big, deep shells in 12",13",16", and 22".
"My first teacher was an awesome guy. He was an all around amazing percussion player, and could play bass very well. He was all about utilizing rudiments in rock and roll. He also got me into playing blues in a big way. He left the music store after about 3 years of taking lessons from him."

Nick moved on to a new teacher after the previous one left the store. His new teacher, Nick Schepisi, is an absolute amazing drummer, and teacher. He also continued playing in his school Jazz Band, and Concert Band as a set drummer, and snare drummer.
"I started taking lessons from Nick in early 2007, and it was the best thing that happened to me, drum's wise. He was an absolute stickler about properly playing rudiments, on-the-spot sight reading, being able to play to a vast variety of music, and a bunch of other very important techniques to drumming. I wouldn't be where I am today without him".

Today, Nick play's with a Connecticut based Hard Rock-Heavy Metal band by the name of Casting Shadows, and is a proud endorser of SJC Custom drums and Soultone Cymbals. Nick also enjoys giving private lessons in his spare time, and also volunteers at local schools to help promote, and teach music to children and young adults.
"I now work with an old music teacher of mine, Peter Kiley. He is helping me through many different struggles, and I definitely see him as the older brother I never had. I owe a lot to him in many ways".

" Music is my absolute passion. Without it, I would be lost."
