Mitchell Montgomery

I am an endorsed freelance artist of Soultone Cymbals and have been playing drum set and percussion for 12 years now. I have had 5 years of private lessons taught by masters, Robert McCormick (percussion) and Ric Craig (drum set). I recently graduated from the University of South Florida in May 2015, double majoring in both Jazz Studies and Percussion Performance. I completed my first 2 years of college at Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL and have now earned my Bachelor's Degree from USF.
I have performed with both SEU's and USF's big bands, symphonic bands, percussion ensembles, and jazz combos. I have also performed with the Univeristy of South Florida Orchestra, the Tampa Symphony Orchestra, the Space Coast S.O., the SouthShore S.O., the Gainsville Orchestra and the Central Florida Master Choir. Additionally, I have conducting experience as I conducted for the USF Symphonic Band in 2013.
In July of 2013 and 2015, I had the privilege of performing at major jazz festivals on tour in Italy and France with the USF Jazz Ensembles. I have played live in concert alongside various big-named artists, such as: Michael Philip Mossman, Rufus Reid, Jack Wilkins, Whitney James, Oliver Nelson Jr., LaRue Nickelson, and the U.S. Air Force Concert Band!
Furthermore, I have played for numerous musicals, including: “9 to 5” and “Fiddler on the Roof” (2013, Winter Haven Theatre), "The Drowsy Chaperone" and "Young Frankenstein"(2014/2016, Sugden Community Theatre of Naples), “Whistle Down the Wind”, "Mack and Mabel", "Brooklyn the Musical", "Sweet Smell of Success", and "Boy From Oz" (2014-16, Community School of Naples).
I have been teaching private lessons for 5 years now and am currently teaching at Roydon Music in Brandon, FL. And lastly, I have been playing drum set for Busch Gardens amusement park in Tampa since summer 2015!
