Matt Cramp – Drummer for Arrowhead and King Machete Matt Cramp's musical journey began early, with his older brother Rod serving as a major influence. Rod, a seasoned singer in the Sydney rock and blues scene, performed alongside iconic bands like Easybeats, Canned Heat, and Steve Wright, among others. Inspired by his brother's passion, Matt set out to form his own musical path. It wasn’t until the late 90s and early 2000s that he joined forces with founding member Brett Pearl to form Crooked Cop, a band that played across Sydney for five years.
In 2008, Matt and Brett formed Arrowhead, with Matt on drums, Brett handling guitar and vocals, and Dave Lopez on bass. The band released their self-titled EP, Arrowhead, in 2008, followed by their full-length albums Atomsmasher (2010) and Desert Cult Ritual (2013). In 2015, they signed with the respected U.S. label Ripple Music, and continued to make waves with their 2019 album Coven of the Snake.
Throughout their career, Arrowhead has supported an impressive lineup of international acts, including Corrosion of Conformity, Earthless, Monster Magnet, Crowbar, Unida, John Garcia & the Band of Gold, Acid King, Kadaver, Blues Pills, Greenleaf, Atomic Bitchwax, Cough, Samsara Blues Experiment, Sasquatch, Buffalo, and Paul Di'Anno. Matt is an avid supporter and endorser of Soultone Cymbals, playing with 15” Natural Hi-hats, 20” Natural Crash, 22” Explosive Crash, and a 20” Natural Ride. While he currently plays with Tama drums—featuring a 22”x10” bass drum, 14”x11” tom, 16”x16” floor tom, and a 14”x8” Tama Artwood snare—Matt is always looking forward to possible future endorsements. His drumming influences are vast, with legends like Bill Ward, John Bonham, Brian Downey, and Ian Paice shaping his style, among many others.
