Marqus “Q” Burleson was born in Houston, TX. He had a short stint in California during high school, but moved back to Texas to attend The University of North Texas. In his 20s and early 30s, Marqus was fortunate enough to be able to travel the world, playing in groups whose styles include country, hip-hop, New Orleans Brass Band, jazz, funk, rock, and gospel. Marqus is a very versatile drummer. He began to develop his musical skills at the age of 7, when he started playing with his mom at church. His love of music continued to grow throughout his youth and it continues to grow today. Marqus received his degree in Music Education and spent the better part of 20 years teaching middle school and high school students the art of percussion. Currently, Marqus is an active live and studio session drummer; Some of his current projects include Texas Mosaix, Crosswinds Jazz Band, and Urban Renewal.
