As a young boy I had opportunities to set at my older brothers drumset and did so every chance I got. Having the drum bug bite me early in my school days, it was clear what instrument I wanted to play when I was old enough to join the school band. Around 1980 I did just that and started learning how to read music and actually play what was asked of me. Though the playing came naturally to me, I had to practice every chance I had.

When I was 14 I got offered a gig with a couple of musicians who just wanted to play old country to entertain the rest homes in the area. After a short year of those glamorous gigs I was hired for a local country band and began playing at the local dance halls. At 17 I sat-in on a show with a family band who was doing some opening shows. When that went well I went on tour with them opening for top country acts like Reba Mcintyre, Vern Gosden, Gene Watson, Randy Travis and the like.

After the band disbanded I accepted about any work I could get from corner bar gigs to arena shows. For the better part of 35 years I listed my services with different musician finder services and got to do some touring with regional bands, but always ended up returning to the Wichita, Kansas area looking for work.

In the fall of 2020 I got a phone call from Kurt Shobe who got my name through musician’s references and began to work with Steel Skarecrow where I have had quite the success in original country music. Thanks to the effort put forth by Kurt as well as the team of agents and such that he amassed I am now part of a band who has a promising chance at making a sole living at the craft I have loved since a child.

In 2022 I was invited to join the Soultone family, a family which I have friends already with. I accepted the invitation and look forward to what the future offers.
